School-Based & Non School-Based Traineeships.

Traineeships combine paid employment with structured training, making them ideal for employers wanting to develop staff and for learners wanting to gain skills while working.

Momentum delivers Targeted Priorities short courses made up of units from our full qualifications. These programs help learners build essential skills quickly and provide a flexible upskilling option for employers. All Targeted Priorities programs are delivered by application, subject to NSW Government approval.

Momentum has a strong track record delivering high-impact Targeted Priorities programs in response to real workforce needs, including:
Infection Prevention and Control
Developed during COVID-19 to support workforce safety across customer-facing industries. This fully online program received a LearnX Award for Online Innovation and was recognised by ASQA for best practice in learner engagement, compliance and outcomes. Momentum was invited by ASQA to deliver a national webinar to over 300 RTOs on designing best-practice online accredited training that achieves strong workplace outcomes.

Conflict De-escalation and Customer Safety
Delivered post-COVID in partnership with the Australian Accommodation Services Industry Association, including training for Star City, supporting frontline staff to manage increased customer risk and safety challenges.

Who Can Access Smart & Skilled?
You may be eligible if you:
- Live or work in NSW
- Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
Eligibility and fees are confirmed during enrolment using the Smart & Skilled Provider Portal.

Other things to know about Smart and Skilled:
Enrolment & Notification of Enrolment (NoE)
To access Smart & Skilled funding, all learners must complete a Notification of Enrolment (NoE). This must be completed before any training commences.
Momentum completes the NoE process in line with NSW requirements.
What you need to provide
- Proof of identity and residency
- Evidence for concessions or fee-free eligibility (if applicable)
Smart & Skilled consent and declaration
- A Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Traineeship details (if applicable, including employer information)
Consent and declaration
As part of the NoE process, students must:
- Provide consent for their personal information to be used and disclosed in line with the Smart & Skilled Schedule
- Declare that all information provided is true, complete and accurate
- Confirm they are not enrolled in the same qualification or units elsewhere
- Acknowledge they have received fee information and student information
If consent is not provided, enrolment cannot proceed.
Fees & Additional Costs
Smart & Skilled subsidises training, but fees may still apply depending on eligibility and qualification level.

- Any additional costs (for example: uniforms, equipment or materials) will be clearly explained before enrolment

How to Get a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A USI is mandatory for nationally recognised training.
- Visit www.usi.gov.au
- Select Create USI
- Provide ID (Medicare card, licence, passport, etc.)
- Record your USI for enrolment
Momentum can assist and can verify your USI with your permission.

Before enrolling, students will receive or be shown how to access information about:

- RPL and credit transfer
- Deferring or discontinuing training (and fee implications)

Third-Party Arrangements
Momentum Education does not use third-party or brokering arrangements to deliver Smart & Skilled training. All training and assessment is delivered and managed directly by Momentum Education.
