Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections (LNC), is a community-based organisation, who work with the disadvantaged in South West Sydney. They provide care, courses, support and a safe place to be for over 22,000 people every year. Whilst striving to deliver more services in the shadow of increasing costs, LNC engaged Momentum to conduct a Digital Maturity Assessment and deliver accredited training to staff to support productivity, and empower staff with new skills.
The assessment revealed that much of LNC’s admin was still paper-based. Communication processes hadn’t kept pace with digital change, and teams were struggling to keep up with growing demands. The program was designed specifically for LNC, using their real systems and workflows. It offered both group learning and one-on-one coaching, supporting staff at very different skill levels to grow together.
A dedicated tech coach worked alongside a facilitator to provide targeted support, while participants were accredited with nationally recognised units of competency for their learning. For many, it was the first time their digital skills had been formally recognised.
As Carole-Anne, LNC’s CEO, put it: “It was clear our paper-based processes were slowing us down and holding back our potential. This was an investment in our people and in our future. We’re already seeing the impact, teams are working smarter and more confidently.” One participant, Bek, shared that “not only did we learn really important skills that will help us do our jobs, we also got to spend time learning together, and we never get that opportunity. It was special for our team.” Tech coach April reflected on the team’s growth: “This was a stretch for the team, new skills and new technology, but they buckled down, applied themselves and helped each other.”
The result is a more connected, capable, and future-ready organisation. LNC’s experience shows that when learning is designed around people, values, and context, even small organisations can make big leaps, and close the digital divide in the process.
